It's 4:30 in the morning and I can't sleep (what a shock). So of course I won't be able to sleep till my mind spews out the mental vomit its been churning around for the last hour or so. (that reads alittle grosser than I wanted)
Is there Equality between the sexes? Is it possible or a pipe-dream? Since we are inherently different even down to our genetic material can we ever truly be equal or have a society that sees us that why?
I keep removing more and more questions from this so you all can think about and not just be shown my opinion. I'll stop here and probably add examples into the comments section for further analysis. I got a couple really good ones,I just hope I don't forget them.

If you are an employer and had two equal canditates but could only hire one. A women or a man; equal training, equal references. They both have a family. Which does the employer hire, most would hire the male. Why? The women could have another child needing to take time off. The parent that is satistically leaves work when the child is sick is the mother. The reason the child calls for the mom is evolutionary a bond built in the womb and from feeding.
Maybe more important than just biological differences is how those differences affect the psychology of each sex. Are women more prone to take the nurture role? Are men more prone to the protector role? And what is the importance of this?
While equality is something we've heard in America since the Civil Rights Movement, the definition has changed. While races are obviously equal, what makes genders inequal? Men are not equal to all other men and women are not equal to all other women, so what equality we do have or can have, I agree, is within social existence. Physically, we are all different, no matter our sex. What is the main equality that we should strive to achieve? What is the 'equality' our societies are trying to gain?
I think that the only true equality we can achieve is an acceptance of differences. As has already been stated, no two people are truly alike, weither they are male, female, black, white, green, Christian, Muslim, etc... Biologically and socialy we are all different.
When it comes to the work place, people should be hired based on their ability to do the work. Are they educated in that field? Do they have experience? etc.
Socially it is possible for us to reach equality only if we start seeing each person as a person, not as a white person or a female person or whatever. The differences that we each have are not going to go away, nor should they need to. Schooling should be availible to all; same with work, with social services, and everything else that makes our society turn.
The baseline is that Equality is Possible; we have a long way to go to get there still.
As I stated above, how do you pick if the canditates are equal. You only have one job, one cheque, one seat in the classroom. How do you pick?
Dude! Sounds like your having a rough time. Just remember that this isnt a permenate thing. I TOTALY understand the frustration that you can go through (hence my quiting) My pholisophy is have fun with it. If you can't have fun doing something I just dont see the point in do it. Sometimes you have to give in, no matter how much you hate, and again HATE, doing things their way. The joke when I was there (and probably still is) that your job isnt to teach, its to baby sit. And the fact is the slower you go through matterial the more money parents have to fork out to have their kids continue. Oh and dont pay attention to other teachers, foreigners either become complacent or really try, and it always seemed with me anyways, when i tired I would get spoken to.
Hang in there, party it up, travel when you can, and try to really enjoy the experience, you will be back to the real world faster than you'd like.
GUMBAI~ empty tht damn glass man!

Hey L,
Long time no chat. Found your blog off Mattie's. Sorry to hear you are having abit of a rough time on the other side of the world. As for is there equality between the sexes... I would have to say no. I really do not think we will ever be equal anyways. Besides the whole genetic- bio-chemistry differences, our brains are wired different as well. There is a great book out call Why men can't listen and women can't read maps. It goes into the science of why men act they way they do and women are the way they are.
We have genetic imprints of our roles in society and it would be hard to break them. We can learn to except each other differences and try and make it an equal playing ground but one will have advantages over the other in some areas.
anyways, just a thought for your debate
miss ya

Two people, equal qualifications? Allow the business student to take over:
You keep digging into them until you find some small thing that allows you legal ability to hire the one over the other. Equal qualifications? Give'm an interview. Equal interviews? Check their references. Equal references? Have someone else interview them. Equal again?
Well, after going through all these levels and if they keep being equal over and over, then you have two choices left to do: Don't hire either of them, or make room for the other one in an equal job. That's how equality works....
in gumdrop land. The thing is, the company needs someone, and these two are both qualified. They'll try and make their selection not based on gender, but the sad thing is, these two metaphorical, imaginary twins walked in, and well, dammit, this real world company we're talking about just got screwed hardcore. I mean, really.... this doesn't happen. One of them won a swimming medal in grade 2 that determines it, or the other can juggle 0.0000009 seconds longer than the other. These are dumb reasons, almost as dumb as chosing someone based on virility or perhaps gender, but on those off times it happens (probably never) that two people have the SAME ABILITIES TO THE HE HAS WELL AS THE SAME LIVES SAVE HE HAS A WANG AND SHE HAS A VAGOO then you have to make something up.
Sorry, I really do think equality between genders doesn't exist, but honestly: The "two people with the same abilities" scenario has to anchor to reality at all and shouldn't be argued. Now, perhaps if you found two people with different, equaly waited abilities, that are different, and one's a man, and one's a woman, then perhaps we could argue this, and hope that the interviewed wasn't a sexist. Because if he was, then it doesn't matter if they are equal. He'll pick the one that he likes! That's the definition of being a sexist!
But if you had equally weighed ability, the example would disolve because the company would have a need for one skill over another. Say The guy can type 1000 words a minutes but only speak English. WOW FRICKING AMAZING! Say The girl can speak eight languages but only type 100 words a minute. WOW FRICKING GREAT!(Yes my brains is always on language) A TO based company with international ties would choose the girl. But a TO based company that has ties only within Ontario would choose the guy. The example can only work if the only difference between them is gender. It's all imaginary, its the only way to control all the external factors of the examples. (and believe me, my brain is trying to grasp all of them but its ungodly high) So is there a way to make an experiment, where you can control the external factors of the Mental Social Experiment were trying to run while not comprimising the main difference of gender.
Nope. Because one of them can belch farther in the alphabet than the other. Case closed, true equality can't exist because some people are always just better.
